“The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you.The Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace.”— Numbers 6:24–26 (Catholic Standard Version)
There’s something sacred about the Priestly Blessing; it’s something that speaks directly to the soul. No matter how heavy the day, no matter how long the night, these words are like fresh water for a weary spirit.
It’s not just a poetic phrase; it’s a divine promise: That God sees us. That he smiles upon. He desires to give you peace, not as the world gives, but a peace rooted in His presence.
In moments of confusion, when our minds are tangled with worry or regret, this blessing reminds us of something eternal: God is for us. He is watching. He is keeping. He is gracious. And He desires that we walk in peace, even in a world that thrives on chaos.
Every time I hear it spoken, whether at the end of Mass or whispered in quiet prayer, I feel the Holy Spirit settling in. It’s not just a benediction.
It’s a reminder that God’s presence travels with us. So as we walk into whatever challenges may come, do so wrapped in this truth: The Lord blesses you. The Lord keeps you. The Lord is with you.
And that is always refreshing.
With Peace and Love,
Alvin Barnes of Jackson, Mississippi
